Kazakhstan
Land of the Great Steppe

The Republic of Kazakhstan is the 9th largest country in the world, located in the deserted continent of Middle Asia, and has a population of over 17.7 million people, most of which are Muslims. The current President of Kazakhstan is Nursultan Nazarbayev. The overall economy has a continuous growth resulted from oil and natural gas export. The current capital city of Kazakhstan is Astana, which is the place where the International Recognized Exhibition EXPO 2017 Astana or “Astana Expo 2017” will be held, under the theme concept “Future Energy” between June 10 to September 10, 2017.

The concept of “Future Energy” is still the main issue that the Republic of Kazakhstan focuses on, due to the fact that Kazakhstan is a country that has been producing oil since 1911. Therefore, the country is aiming to develop a green economy plan as well as becoming an energy research and innovation center for the environment.

AstanaAnother Wonder of the World

Astana is the second-to-the-largest city of Kazakhstan, and considered to be ‘Another Wonder of the World.’ Additionally, the city had received the “City of Peace” award from UNESCO due to magnificent Eurasian-based architectures, and unique city plan that was designed by Kisho Kurokawa, a Japanese architect, and Norman Foster, a famous British architect. Besides, there are buildings that are modernly designed, like “Bayterek Tower” or the “Skyscraping Poplar Tree” in Kazakh, that is considerably one of the landmarks of Astana, as well as “Khan Shatyr” Entertainment Center that was inspired by the design of Khan’s tent in the past. The ancestors of the Kazakhs were to make “Astana” a tourist attraction for both locals and the tourists from all over world, and also aim to turn the city into the hub of the economy, politics, and rapid growing cultural center.
